Hmm...well he doesn't exactly keep balance, he watches history unfold. The only time he desperately wanted to actually be able to do something was when he saw how Sage was going to be brought into this world, he knows everything so he already knew how much his birth would upset the balance

Could work..It happened in a time of war in the land of Okami, the border of metal, blood, and ink country. They were at war and Mezurashii, Sage's Mother, went there to help and heal, she was an amazing and kind wolf with the purest seal mastery abilities. And death saw his opportunity while she was lost in the woods
