Cove balanced himself after his bad judgement of  where the boulder was compared to his previous rock. He hadn't jumped far enough, so he had struggled to stay up for it was a long fall. He breathed slowly, attempting to bring his heart rate down. He plopped down on the hard surface for rest. he had been racing himself. Seeing how fast he could go from one rock to the other.

    He closed his eyes. Trusting his environment he stared to fall asleep. The sun felt nice and warm on his dark coat, yet the rock kept him cool.

Ember laughed and paced over to him. By the time he was deeply sleeping, she lie down beside him and licked his ear.
"G'night , sleepoy bones..." She giggled.
Why do I like him so much? She thought to herself, he really is great and its wonderful of him to help me. I'll talk to him more when he wakes up. And with that, Ember closed her eyes

After Ember licked his ear it twitched, but he didn't make a noise. He was enjoying his little nap. Her voice echoed through his dream as the small cuffed ears pointed in her direction. Cove continued sleeping for a little while longer. When he opened his eyes he was slightly startled that Ember was near him, yet he was careful not to wake her. He smiled and sniffed the air. He quietly got up and walked a few yards away and sat down again. There, he waited for her to wake up.

He was nervous to get attacked to someone else. After what happened last, he was afraid. While waiting for Ember he zoned off. Thinking about his past.

Ember opened her eyes and soft, misty light surrounded her. As she adjusted to the light and her surroundings, she saw Cove in the distance. She slowly sat up and twitched her ears. Soft sparks sprinkled from her fur as she stood up and made her way towards him.

She had a sense that Cove was scared to get close to her, and she felt the same way. What if he left? But he was so nice. All Ember wanted was one dependable wolf, something she knew she might never find if Cove wasn't it.

"Cove? You alright? She whispered as she neared the wolf. She twitched her ears and shot a few sparks his way.

He heard the rustle of her fur as she got up. Tilting his ears in her direction, but with a plain face. He listened to her words carefully. They were important. Every word out of her mouth was important, fore it could be last. He enjoyed her voice. It was soft and safe. Unlike no other voice Cove had ever heard. It was Ember's voice, and that is what made it unique and pleasant.
Her question lingered in his mind for a good 30 seconds before he processed and answered it. It had almost been drowned in his thoughts. Not thoughts of his past, but thoughts of Ember.

"Just thinking," He replied softly. "You know how words can consume the mind." He let out a little chuckle from the corners of his cheesy smile. He didn't seem happy, yet he didn't look overwhelmed or sad. He was not tense though, he was comfortable.
"Did you enjoy your nap?" He said as she got closer. He watched her sparks carefully as they left her ears. Studying every movement of their quick yet meaningful lives.

"Oh, uh," Ember was caught in a web of thoughts. Did he really care about her nap? That would be... Sweet of him. She shook the thought away and giggled, "Yes, Cove. You're so..." She stopped... He was a lot of things, but she decided, "So, sweet." As soon as it left her mouth, she knew it sounded terribly cheesy. She twitched her ears and a spark landed on Cove's nose

He nodded at her response and listened as she stuttered. He heard her next words and chuckled with a small smile. Greatful for her appreciation of his words and company. He didn't know how to reply. He wasn't used to being in such a dilemma...instead of speaking he licked the spot on his nose where the spark had landed and smiled. Not a big smile, but a kind one.
"Thank you Ember, I try my best..." He said with a gentile tone. He wasn't sure if he wanted to compliment her back. So he stuttered for a second and went on. "Your sparks are quite happy today. They're pretty."

"Thanks, Cove..." She smiled and stood up. "Y'know...this whole journey is to find my friend. But I think it's already over because I've found you." She whispered and leaned closer to him, "But I think me and you, we could have a great adventure, so if you're up to it, we ought to get going." She leaned even closer, and planted a soft kiss on his nose.

He listened to her words. As if they were a song. He expected such things, and wanted to beat himself up for it. She was so kind hearted and fragile, he didn't want to break her. Lying would only make things worse for her in the end.
He Just looked at her like a puppy as she got closer and closed his eyes when she kissed him nose. He didn't speak until she was done.
"I'll go wherever you go if you trust me enough for such 'adventures'" he chuckled and embraced her presence. He liked her, yes. But didn't know what to do with himself. He didn't even trust himself. Maybe she was what he needed.

"Oh, Cove, I trust you more than anyone. I need you and I think, " she paused, "you need me. I was afraid to befriend you, because I didn't want to be hurt, but me and you, we're perfect together." Ember smiled and leaned against her new best companion.

He thought to himself for a minute. He hoped this was right. That she was right. He wanted to be trusted, but was afraid of the side affects. Words seemed to escape him yet again. He went for a simple answer to her reassurance.
"Are you sure I'm the sweet one?" He smiled and gently leaned against her side. "It's not my intentions to hurt you, Ember." He added a pause "I hope it never will be."

He let that sink in for a minute. Then stood up, being careful not to let Off balance. He wanted a distraction from this but it had to be subtle.
"Are you ready for our Adventure?" He let it a gentile smile and looked at her.

Feeling as if she might have made Cove uncomfortable, Ember backed off a little. She nodded and stood up
"Yes, we ought to get going," she paused, "and Cove? Yes, I'm sure you're the sweet one." She smiled and started walking. Leaping from rock to rock, she looked back to check if Cove was following her. She hoped she hadn't made things strange between them, because she truthfully loved Cove more than she showed.

He grimes and nudged her playfully after she spoke. He followed her slowly. His little tail was wiggling as a way to get out some gitters from the conversation. He swiftly began to follow her on the rocks. Being careful to avoid a mistep.
"Where do you want to look first?" He asked

"There's this meadow," she started, " it seems so... Interesting... I'll show you the way," she smiled and bounded off, giggling.
(Ugh that was short and gross I'm sorry)

He nodded and ran after. He playfuly followed right behind her heels. "What's so interesting about this meadow?" He asked

"Well," she giggled, "every night, thousands of fireflies rise up from it and its so bright it looks almost like day. It seems magical, and if nothing else, its something to look at until we figure out where we'll go next." She smiled and began to lead the way.
